National Museum of Ireland
The National Museum was opened in 1890 and contains artefacts dating from 7000 BC to the 20th century. The huge archaeological collection includes the most outstanding examples of Celtic and Medieval art such as the famous Ardagh Chalice, the Tara Brooch and the Derrynaflan Hoard.

See Ór, an exhibition on Ireland's Gold, which features the finest collection of prehistoric gold artefacts in Europe, including the famous Mooghaun Gold hoard and hundreds of examples of Celtic jewellery. The Prehistoric Ireland exhibition introduces the visitors to the everyday culture of prehistory. Other sections include the Viking Age Ireland, the Road to Independence and Ancient Egypt.
